How it works
Bring the list
Paste a tracklist, import a playlist file or a screenshot, or use a Spotify playlist of your own.
Point it at your music
Add the folders your music lives in, another drive or a NAS share, or tick All drives. Scanning only reads.
Load the crate
Each track shows Found, Possible or Missing. Export what you own as a crate, and send the rest to your wanted list.
What it does
-
Takes the list however it comes
- A tracklist pasted as text, one song a line.
- Screenshots of a playlist, up to 30 at a time, read by the AI you set up and joined into one list for you to check.
- A CSV, or playlists from Serato, rekordbox, Traktor, VirtualDJ and Apple Music library files.
- Spotify: sign in, then paste a link to a playlist you own or collaborate on, or songs copied from the Spotify app.
-
Knows your library
- Scans several locations at once, and skips a drive that isn’t plugged in without forgetting what was on it.
- Matches messy names and tags, and songs written in other scripts.
- Prefers the copy every DJ app can play when you have a track more than once.
- Reads BPM, key and Mixed In Key energy from your tags.
-
Crates for your DJ software
Export a crate for Serato, rekordbox (XML), Traktor (NML) or VirtualDJ, or as an M3U8 for Engine DJ, djay and others. Tick “Mixing order” to line it up by key, tempo and energy.
-
A wanted list, with where to buy
Get Tracks lists what each crate is missing, with a search link for each track on Beatport, Traxsource, Juno Download, Bandcamp and Amazon Music, and the record pools you subscribe to. When the file you bought lands in your Downloads or pool folder, Crate Digger recognises it and adds it to the crate that wanted it.
-
Title Fix
Tidies artists and titles (site names, bitrates, odd symbols), renames files to “Artist - Title - BPM - Key”, and fills in missing BPM and key. You tick what changes, and Undo puts it back.
-
Online tags Pro
Look Up Online fills in a missing year, album and genre from Crate Digger’s own tag service, built from open music data. Only each track’s artist and title are sent (with your licence, to check it’s Pro), only when you ask, and only empty tags are filled.
-
Duplicates
Finds copies of the same track across your music locations, by name and tags or by comparing the audio. Clean and dirty versions, edits and remixes are never treated as duplicates.
-
Gigs, with GigBlueprint
Connect the Gigs tab to your company’s GigBlueprint to see your bookings and prep a crate from the client’s must-play and do-not-play lists. Do-not-plays stay out of the crate, even ones you buy later. When the client changes the lists, see what changed and bring it in. Nothing about your library goes to GigBlueprint.
-
An assistant for gig prep
The Assistant tab searches your library and puts a crate in mixing order, with your own API key or a local model. Or connect the AI app you already use, and it can:
- make a clean set for a school dance or corporate gig;
- put a crate in mixing order and point out rough changes;
- combine the night’s crates, or compare two;
- suggest what to play next from your own library during a set;
- show what you played afterwards, from VirtualDJ or Traktor history or a Serato or rekordbox session export.
-
Music Bingo
Ask your AI app for a game from any crate: printable cards in English or Spanish, the call list for your DJ software, and a host sheet. Check a winner’s card in seconds.
Careful with your files
Scans only read
Scanning never changes a file, skips system and app folders, and never pulls down files that are only in the cloud.
Nothing changes unasked
Title Fix changes only what you tick, and Undo puts it back. Arrivals are copied into an inbox folder; nothing is moved out of your Downloads or pool folders.
Works offline
Your music files never leave your computer. Crate Digger checks its licence about once a week and keeps working for 30 days without a connection.
Editions and status
Coming soon
Crate Digger 1.0 is being readied for release on Windows and macOS. It comes in Solo and Pro editions; Online tags is part of Pro. Prices haven’t been set yet.
Spotify only shares playlists you own or collaborate on. For anything else, a screenshot, a CSV or a pasted tracklist works just as well.
